What's included, and what it measures
What's included, and what it measures
Four cups — 1 cup (250ml), 1/2 cup (125ml), 1/3 cup (80ml), 1/4 cup (60ml).
Four spoons — 1 tbsp (15ml), 1 tsp (5ml), 1/2 tsp (2.5ml), 1/4 tsp (1.25ml).
Every figure above is engraved into the piece itself, in both cups and millilitres.
The cups are metric. One cup here is 250ml, the Australian and metric standard. A US cup is 237ml. Invisible in a stew, visible in a cake — so work from whichever measure your recipe uses, since both are on the piece.
Materials and care
Materials and care
Material. Black-finished stainless steel with wooden handles.
Care. Hand wash and dry straight away. A dark finish on steel is a coating, and dishwasher detergent is what dulls it; the wooden handles should not be soaked or heat-dried either. Warm water and a cloth.
The handles. A wipe of food-grade mineral oil once or twice a year keeps the wood fed where it meets the metal.

Measures that stay readable for years.
Engraved, not printed.
Stamped into the metal, so the marking is as deep as the cup itself and there is nothing sitting on the surface to wear away. Printed sets go blank within a year of washing up and leave you holding an unmarked cup and guessing. Every capacity is here in cups and in millilitres, which saves a conversion mid-recipe with flour on your hands.
- Engraved into the steel
- Cups and millilitres on every piece
- Nothing to rub off
Four cups, four spoons.
1, 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 cup; 1 tbsp down to 1/4 tsp. The small end is the one that matters — a quarter teaspoon out on baking powder is the difference between a loaf and a doorstop, and it is exactly the measure cheaper sets round off or leave out. They nest, so the lot takes about the space of the largest cup.
- Four cups, four spoons
- Down to 1/4 tsp
- Nests into a drawer
Black steel and wood in the hand.
Dark steel where it measures, wood where you hold it. The wood stays cool and does not slip in a wet hand; the steel keeps the cup true, which matters because a cup that has flexed out of round is no longer a measure of anything. It also means a measuring set that can hang on a rail rather than hiding in a drawer.
- Wooden handles
- Steel holds its shape
- Good enough to hang up
Questions
Frequently asked about this set
Are these US cups or metric cups?
Metric — 1 cup is 250ml, 1/2 is 125ml, 1/3 is 80ml, 1/4 is 60ml. A US cup is 237ml, so on baking check which standard your recipe uses. The millilitres are engraved on every piece so you can work either way.
What are the eight pieces?
Four cups — 1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 — and four spoons: 1 tbsp, 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp. Not eight spoons, and there is no 1/8 teaspoon in the set.
Can they go in the dishwasher?
No — hand wash and dry. The dark finish is a coating on steel and dishwasher detergent dulls it, and the wooden handles should not be soaked or heat-dried.
Will the markings wear off?
No. They are engraved into the metal rather than printed on it, which is the difference between a set you can still read in five years and one you cannot.
Do they nest?
Yes — the cups sit inside each other and the spoons stack, so the whole set takes roughly the space of the largest cup.
Is a ring or clip included?
No. The pieces nest rather than being held together on a ring.
How does this differ from your rose gold measuring set?
The finish, and nothing else that matters. Same eight pieces, same metric capacities, same engraving. One is black steel, the other rose gold — pick on which suits your kitchen.
What if I'm not satisfied?
Thirty days to change your mind, no hassle. If it is not right we will put it right.
Quality has a cost. Middlemen shouldn't.
Real customers. Real kitchens.
The engraving is the whole point. My last set went blank in a year.
Millilitres on every piece means no converting American recipes in my head.
Quarter teaspoon gets constant use. I had been eyeballing it before.
Black steel against the wooden handles looks superb on a rail.
Nests right down, takes almost no drawer.
Hand wash only was clearly stated. Finish still perfect.
Heavier than the plastic ones. Feels like it will last.
Clear that the cups are metric, which saved my first bake.
Bought as a gift and ordered a second for myself.
