Care. Hand wash everything. For the decanter, warm water with a little washing-up liquid, swirled and rinsed, then stand it upside down in the base to drain — that is the part people forget, and it is what stops a water mark drying inside. The wooden stand gets wiped and dried, never soaked.
Between spirits. Rinse with a splash of the spirit you are about to pour rather than water, and nothing carries over.

How big is it?
18cm tall standing in its wooden base, and 23cm measured from the foot to the tip of the spout. That 23cm is the overall diagonal rather than the width of the globe, so it takes up less shelf than the number suggests.
Is the map printed or etched?
Etched into the glass. You can feel the continents under a fingertip, and there is no print to wear off in the sink.
How do I clean the inside?
Warm water with a little washing-up liquid, swirled and rinsed well, then stood upside down in the base to drain. Draining it properly is the step that matters — it is what stops a water mark drying on the inside of the globe.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
No — hand wash the decanter and the glasses, and never put the wooden stand near a dishwasher. Etched glass and a machine cycle are not friends.
Does the ship come loose?
No. It sits fixed inside the globe as part of the piece, so it stays where it is however much you swirl.
Is it only for whiskey?
Any spirit you would decant — whisky, bourbon, rum, brandy, or a dark non-alcoholic spirit. It suits anything amber, because that is what makes the ship read against the glass.
