A Thoughtful Gift

A perfect gift for weddings, housewarmings, or any food lover, the Nordic Wooden Serving Board brings beauty and functionality together in one elegant package.

Simple. Natural. Refined.

The Nordic Wooden Serving Board is more than a serving piece—it's a statement of taste, care, and timeless style.

The three shapes

  • Wave — 39 × 18.5cm. A long curve, for bread or a run of cheese.
  • Arch — 32.5 × 24.5cm. The roundest and widest, and the one that works as a breakfast tray.
  • Rectangle — 40 × 14.8cm. Long and narrow, made to sit down the middle of a table.

All three carry the same fluted face.

What it's for

Serving, not chopping. The whole face is ribbed into deep parallel flutes, which is why food sits up on it beautifully and why you should not cut on it — a knife would ride the ridges. This is a board for carrying and presenting, not for prep. Our acacia and walnut boards are the ones to cut on.

It also does duty well away from food: a tray for keys and glasses by a door, perfume and jewellery on a dressing table, or simply stood on a shelf, which is where a lot of them end up.

Care

Wipe along the flutes with a damp cloth and dry it. No soaking and no dishwasher. The grooves are the one thing that takes a moment, so wipe with the ribs rather than across them.

Why this board

Made to be looked at, not cut on.

Nordic Wooden Serving Board - Urban Jiko
The surface

Fluted, which changes how food reads.

Deep parallel ribs across the whole face, so a loaf, a wedge of cheese or a row of pastries sits raised on the ridges instead of flat on a plane. It catches light along the grooves and throws shadow between them, which is why food on this looks arranged when you have done nothing but put it down.

  • Ribbed across the face
  • Food sits raised
  • Pale hardwood

Three shapes

A wave, an arch and a long rectangle.

Wave at 39 by 18.5cm for bread and a run of cheese. Arch at 32.5 by 24.5cm, the widest and the one that carries a breakfast. Rectangle at 40 by 14.8cm, long and narrow and made to run down the centre of a table between place settings. Same price whichever you take.

  • Wave 39 × 18.5cm
  • Arch 32.5 × 24.5cm
  • Rectangle 40 × 14.8cm

Off the table too

It works as a tray in rooms without food.

A fluted wooden board holds perfume and jewellery on a dressing table, keys and a wallet by a door, or a candle and a book on a side table just as well as it holds cheese. Several of ours end up standing on a shelf doing nothing at all, which is a legitimate use for something this shape.

  • Doubles as a vanity tray
  • Stands on a shelf
  • Not only for food

Questions

Frequently asked about this board

Can I chop on it?

No — and this is the thing to know before buying. The face is deeply fluted, so a knife rides the ridges rather than cutting cleanly, and it would damage them. This is a serving board. For prep, our acacia and walnut boards are what you want.

What are the three shapes and sizes?

Wave 39 × 18.5cm, Arch 32.5 × 24.5cm, Rectangle 40 × 14.8cm. All the same price.

Which shape should I choose?

Arch if you want the widest and most tray-like — it carries a breakfast. Rectangle if it is going down the middle of a table between place settings. Wave for bread and cheese, and because it is the most sculptural of the three.

Does it have a handle?

No. All three are flat boards with a fluted face — there is no cut-out handle on any of the shapes. They are carried with two hands, which the width of them suits.

How do I clean the grooves?

Wipe along the flutes rather than across them, with a damp cloth, then dry. No soaking and no dishwasher. That is the one part of owning it that takes a moment.

Can I put a hot dish on it?

A warm plate, yes. Anything straight out of an oven, no — wood is not a trivet and heat will mark the ribs.

What wood is it?

A pale hardwood, finished matt so the grain shows through the flutes. Tone varies board to board, as solid timber does.

What if I'm not satisfied?

Thirty days to change your mind, no hassle. If it is not right we will put it right.
