Sizes
Sizes
- Small — 28 × 20cm. Garlic, herbs, one onion, a lime.
- Medium — 35 × 25cm. The everyday board, and the one most kitchens want.
- Large — 40 × 30cm. Room to carve a joint or lay out a whole board of prep.
Each has a juice groove cut round one face.
Materials and care
Materials and care
Material. Solid acacia, edge-glued from planks into a single slab — not a veneer, not a laminate over board.
Care. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry, then stand it on edge rather than lying it flat, so both faces get air. No soaking and no dishwasher.
Oiling. When the colour looks dry, wipe on food-grade mineral oil, leave it to soak in and buff off the excess. A minute, a few times a year.
Grain. Acacia runs from honey to deep red-brown, so yours will not match the photograph exactly.

The everyday board, in the size you need.
Solid acacia, not a laminate wearing a veneer.
Edge-glued from planks into one slab, so what you cut on goes all the way through. A veneered board looks identical for about a year and then the top layer starts to lift at a corner. This is the same wood at the surface as it is in the middle, which is the only kind worth oiling and keeping.
- Solid through, no veneer
- Edge-glued planks
- Kind to an edge
A channel for everything that runs.
Cut round one face, and it is the difference between carving on a board and carving on a board that is about to redecorate your worktop. Roast meat, a ripe tomato, a whole orange — the juice goes where the channel is instead of over the edge. The other face is flat for everything else.
- Groove round one face
- Flat on the other side
- Carve without the mess
Pick by the worktop, not by the price.
Small at 28 by 20cm is a counter board for the quick jobs. Medium at 35 by 25cm is the everyday one and what most kitchens should buy. Large at 40 by 30cm gives room to carve a joint or lay a whole prep out at once. All three the same board, the same groove, the same wood.
- 28×20, 35×25, 40×30cm
- Same build in all three
- Medium suits most kitchens
Questions
Frequently asked about this board
What are the three sizes?
Small 28 × 20cm, Medium 35 × 25cm, Large 40 × 30cm.
Which size should I get?
Medium suits most kitchens and is what we would pick. Small if it is a counter board for quick jobs alongside something bigger; Large if you carve joints or like laying a whole prep out at once.
Does it have a juice groove?
Yes, cut round one face. The other side is flat, so you get a groove when you want one and a clear board when you do not.
Is it solid wood?
Yes — edge-glued acacia planks forming one slab, the same wood at the surface as in the middle. Not a veneer over composite board.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
No. Wipe it, dry it, and stand it on edge so both faces get air. That is the whole routine.
How does this compare to your walnut board?
They are the same idea in two woods and the same price ladder — think of it as a colourway choice. Acacia is blonde and has a juice groove; walnut is dark and has a hang hole. Pick on your kitchen, not on which is better.
How does it compare to the end-grain boards?
The parquet and grid boards are end grain and much thicker, which is genuinely kinder to a knife edge and costs about three times as much. This is the excellent-value everyday board; those are the step up.
What if I'm not satisfied?
Thirty days to change your mind, no hassle. If it is not right we will put it right.
Quality has a cost. Middlemen shouldn't.
Real customers. Real kitchens.
Groove on one side, flat on the other. Obvious in hindsight and I use both.
Solid all the way through. My last board was a veneer and it lifted within a year.
Medium was the right size for our kitchen. Glad the dimensions were listed.
Carved a whole chicken on the large one and nothing went over the edge.
Oiled it once, looks better than the day it came.
Blonde acacia against a dark worktop looks superb.
Good weight, does not slide about.
Bought the small one too. Between them everything is covered.
Knives stay sharper on this than the glass one it replaced.
