The three boards, measured
The three boards, measured
- Large — 33 × 24cm, 1cm thick, 1.11kg. Cut-out handle.
- Medium — 28 × 22cm, 1cm thick, 833g. Cut-out handle.
- Small — 20 × 15cm, 1cm thick, 434g. No handle.
All three are 1cm thin and stack flat, so the set takes about the space of one wooden board.
What it's made of
What it's made of
This is a composite, not timber. It is high-density wood fibre bonded with resin and pressed into sheet — the same class of material as the boards used in professional kitchens where a wooden board cannot be maintained. We are saying so plainly because the surface has no grain figure and we would rather you know what you are buying.
Why you would want that. Wood has to be hand-washed, dried on edge and oiled a few times a year. This does not. It goes in the dishwasher, it will not warp or split, it does not absorb, and it needs nothing done to it for as long as you own it. Nothing else we sell can say that.
The trade. Composite is harder than end-grain timber, so if what you care about most is knife edges, our acacia and walnut boards are the kinder surface. This one wins on being indestructible and needing no thought.
Care
Care
Dishwasher, or hot soapy water — either. No oiling, no drying on edge, no seasoning, nothing to remember. Both faces are identical so there is no right way up.

The boards that ask nothing of you.
Not wood, and that's the point.
This is a high-density wood-fibre composite rather than timber — the sort of board used where a wooden one cannot realistically be maintained. It does not absorb, it will not warp or split, and it never wants oiling. Every wooden board we sell asks for a hand wash, a dry on edge and a few minutes of oil a year. This one asks for nothing, ever.
- Dishwasher safe
- Never needs oiling
- Will not warp or split
A centimetre thin, and they stack.
33 by 24, 28 by 22 and 20 by 15cm, all a centimetre thick. Thin enough that all three together take roughly the space of one wooden board, and light enough at 434g to 1.11kg that the small one gets grabbed for a single lime rather than hauling out a butcher block. The two larger boards have a cut-out handle.

Wood is kinder to a knife. This isn't wood.
We sell end-grain acacia because it is the best surface a blade can meet. A composite is harder than that, so if edge care is your priority, buy the timber. What this does that timber cannot is survive total neglect — raw chicken, the dishwasher, a week in the sink, a forgetful household. Different job, and worth owning for it.
- Survives neglect
- Not as kind as end grain
- Raw meat and straight in the machine
Questions
Frequently asked about this set
Is it wood?
No. It is a high-density wood-fibre composite bonded with resin — the material class used in professional kitchens where a wooden board cannot be maintained. There is no grain figure on it because there is no grain.
Can it really go in the dishwasher?
Yes, and that is the main reason to own it. It does not absorb, warp or split, so a dishwasher cycle does nothing to it. No board we sell in timber can say that.
Does it need oiling?
Never. There is nothing to feed and nothing to dry out. That is the whole proposition.
Is it kind to knives?
Less so than end-grain wood, and we would rather say it. Composite sits between timber and steel on hardness. If knife edges are your priority, our acacia end-grain boards are the better surface; if being able to put a board through the dishwasher after raw chicken matters more, this is.
What are the three sizes?
33 × 24cm (1.11kg), 28 × 22cm (833g) and 20 × 15cm (434g), all 1cm thick. The two larger ones have a cut-out handle.
Is it reversible?
Yes — both faces are identical, so there is no right way up and no groove to work around.
Why is it more than your solid wood boards?
Fair question. You get three boards rather than one, and a material that needs no maintenance for as long as you own it. If you want one beautiful board and do not mind looking after it, the solid acacia at a third of the price is the better buy.
What if I'm not satisfied?
Thirty days to change your mind, no hassle. If it is not right we will put it right.
Quality has a cost. Middlemen shouldn't.
Real customers. Real kitchens.
Straight in the dishwasher after chicken. That is why I bought them.
Three boards, one centimetre each, they live in a slot beside the fridge.
Honest that wood is kinder to knives. I bought both in the end.
Small one gets used for everything quick. Never oiled anything.
Two years, no warping, no stains, no thought given.
Light enough that my daughter uses one without help.
Both sides the same so there is no wrong way round.
Handles on the bigger two make carrying prep easy.
Not wood and does not pretend to be. Suits us fine.
