If a measurement decides the purchase — a narrow stairwell, a shallow shelf, the gap above a skirting board — ask us before you order and we will get the figure from the supplier rather than guess at it.

Cleaning. A dry or barely damp cloth along the grain is the whole job. Keep water off the sensor lens and away from the charging point, and let it dry before you charge it.
Charging. Rechargeable over USB, so there is no wiring and nothing to switch on at the wall. The manufacturer publishes no battery capacity, charge time or run time between charges, and in any case how long a charge lasts depends on how often the sensor is triggered. Treat it the way you treat a phone and top it up when it suits you.
Wood. Both finishes keep shifting gently in colour for months after they arrive — ash warms up, walnut deepens. Strong direct sun moves that along faster, which is one more reason a hallway suits it.
Enough to see by. Not enough to wake anyone.
The whole upper half is a frosted tube rather than a lens, so what you get is a column of warm white light instead of a bright point aimed at your face. That is the difference between a light you are glad came on at two in the morning and one you resent. Look at the round wooden puck. In the hallway and stairwell shots it is flat on the wall with the light held against it. In the bedroom shot the same disc is on the nightstand with the light standing upright on top of it. So the thing sold as a wall light is also, without buying anything else, a small bedside lamp that turns itself on when you reach for it.
One caution worth having up front: no fixings are shown in any of the photographs and the manufacturer does not list what comes in the box, so we cannot tell you whether that puck goes up with adhesive, with screws, or with something else. If your wall is tile, glass or fresh plaster, ask us before you order.

How far away does it pick me up?
The manufacturer says motion-activated and stops there — no detection distance and no detection arc. We are not going to publish a figure we cannot point at a source for, so if the exact reach matters for a long corridor, ask us before you order and we will put the question to the supplier.
How long does it stay on after it triggers?
Also not published. Lights of this kind normally hold for somewhere between a few seconds and a minute and re-trigger if you are still moving, but that is a general observation about the category rather than a specification for this light, and we would rather say so than dress it up as one.
Is it batteries or rechargeable?
Rechargeable, topped up over USB — there is nothing to unwrap and replace. The manufacturer does not state the battery type or its capacity, so those are two more numbers you will not find on this page.
How long does a charge last?
No run time is published, and honestly a single figure would be misleading anyway: a light on a busy landing is triggered many times a night and one in a spare room is triggered twice a week. The practical answer is to charge it when you are charging everything else and not think about it in between.
Does it come on in daylight too?
