Material. Glazed ceramic, with a reactive glaze that pools and speckles differently on every piece. No two are identical.
The tray. It lifts off. Water that runs down wet handles collects in the tray rather than in the bottom of the pot, and you tip it out and wipe it in a couple of seconds — which is the difference between a utensil holder you clean and one you avoid looking into.
Care. Wipe both parts with a damp cloth. Glaze is non-porous, so nothing soaks in or lingers.

The base lifts off. That's the whole idea.
A sealed utensil pot collects every drip that runs off a washed spoon, and once it does there is no getting at it without emptying the lot into the sink. This one sits on a separate ceramic tray: the water ends up there, you lift the pot, tip the tray, wipe it, done. Ten seconds, and it is the reason this pot never develops a smell.

These are fired with a reactive glaze that moves in the kiln rather than being sprayed on evenly — it pools dark where it gathers and breaks to speckle where it thins. Six finishes, from a deep matte black to a mocha gradient to a speckled Starry Night, and no two pots come out of the kiln the same.

What is the tray for?
Water. Wet utensils drip, and in a sealed pot that water has nowhere to go. Here it collects in a removable ceramic tray — lift the pot off, tip the tray, wipe it. That is the whole maintenance routine.
How big is it?
The holder is 12cm tall and 10.5cm across; the tray adds about 2.3cm. Around 14cm assembled.
Will mine look like the photograph?
In shape, exactly. In finish, not quite — the glaze is reactive, so it pools and speckles differently on every piece. That variation is what you are buying.
What are the six finishes?
Black, Black Pearl, Blue, Twilight, Mocha and Starry Night. Same holder and same price in all six; the glaze is the only difference.
Does it stain?
No. The glaze is non-porous, so oil and colour sit on the surface and wipe off rather than soaking in.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
A wipe with a damp cloth is genuinely all it needs, and it is what we would do. Both pieces are glazed ceramic with nothing to absorb.
Does the tray come loose in use?
The pot sits in the tray under its own weight, so it stays put on the counter and lifts straight out when you want to empty it.

Mocha glaze is beautiful and completely different from the photo, in a good way.
